Anne completed her teacher training with Anne Marie Newland at Sun Power Yoga, in 2011. This awarded her with a CYQ level 3 yoga teacher certificate. In 2013 she undertook a further 12 months training to qualify as a seasonal yoga teacher, with Energy Yoga School.
I teach 3 classes for members of Sheffield U3A on Thursdays.
One is chair based, beginning with grounding breathwork, followed by a whole body seated warm up sequence, including a chair based surya namaskar (salute to the sun). Using the chair for support a series of standing postures focus on core strength, alignment and balance. The class ends with relaxation and guided visualisation to restore and re-energise.
The other two are mat based classes. One is a gentle hatha style for which is suitable for beginners and anyone with knee, wrist and shoulder problems and the second is for active seniors.
Both begin with breathwork for focus and concentration, then a series of postures to open, gently stretch and energise and supported restorative postures which prepare for relaxation and guided visualisation to complete the practice.
(Non members are welcome to try a class, but must join the U3A to be able to attend regularly.).
Anne currently teaches:
“From the beginning I’ve had an open-minded approach and taken every opportunity to experience different traditions and styles of yoga practice. I’ve experienced classical Hatha, Sivananda, Iyengar, Jivamukti, Vinyasa and modern Dynamic Flow and was introduced to the Ashtanga Primary Series by Nicola in 2009.”
